South East Regional Cancer Program

Spiritual health is finding meaning and purpose in life, coming to terms with life’s challenges and nurturing both hope and the will to live.  Finding life-enhancing ways of coping in the midst of suffering, chronic illness and sometimes death fosters spiritual health that is essential for patient and family-centred care that responds to the whole person. At any time, a person can face uncertainties and experiences that threaten emotional and spiritual well-being.  The spiritual health team offers support for individuals who are fearful or anxious about how an illness could affect their life or the life of others, want to explore the meaning of current health challenges, are struggling with a diagnosis, or grief or loss associated with a diagnosis, want to clarify their values regarding health care decisions, and/or need to draw strength from their spiritual roots.
