Supportive and Palliative Care is not only for those individuals who are at the end of life or have very advanced disease. Many people who are receiving treatment to control and even cure their disease will benefit from Supportive and Palliative Care. The focus is on improving quality of life by managing distressing symptoms. Supportive and Palliative Care is based on an inter‐professional approach to care. This care attends to complex symptom management, psychosocial, practical and spiritual issues and is available at any age or stage of illness. Palliative care also provides advice and support for discussing goals of care, and helping with advance care planning, grief and bereavement. |
